More about cork!

As I mentioned a couple of posts back, Portugal is the world's largest cork producer! The use of cork goes back to the 17th century when it was first used to seal bottles of wine. Cork harvesting is a tradition that has been around for hundreds of years and is one of the most ecological and sustainable types of agriculture in all of Europe. During a recent trip into one of the local villages we had the opportunity to visit some of the artisan shops and check out a few of the products that are crafted from cork! Take a look!

From this…..
To these!
It took a lot of will power not to buy one of these babies!

Ok, these little wine coats aren't made from cork, but good lord they're cute! If only they came in my size!
