Sedona, Arizona

Yesterday we took a drive up to Sedona. Approximately 120 miles north of Phoenix, located in the Upper Sonoran Desert. We missed this little town on our last road trip in 2010, so we thought we should make the effort to go take a look. The city itself is very touristy. Lots of restaurants, souvenir shops, art galleries, crystal shops, and psychics. The red sandstone formations surrounding the area attract many people with spiritual pursuits. The area also offers tons of beautiful trails for hiking and biking. In the early days of film up until the 70's, the area was the back drop for over 60 Hollywood films, at one point promoting itself as "Arizona's Little Hollywood", but this is only the beginning! The history of the area can be dated back as far as 11500 to 9000 B.C. ! Our favourite part of Sedona was the drive up on the "Red Rock Scenic Byway". We had the camera on overdrive! Check out some of the highlights!

Below are a few snap shots of some of the beautiful art that can be found around the city.
