Collier-Seminole State Park, Florida

We are finally enjoying warmer temperatures, but with a price! Humidity and mosquito's! We are staying at Collier-Seminole State Park in southern Florida. It is a 7271 acre park in the Everglades. It lies partly on the biggest Mangrove Swamp in the world! The park also contains one of the three original stands of rare Royal Palms. There is tons to do here, hiking, biking, and they also have canoes for hire which we hope to do before we leave! Today we took a bike ride along a 3.5 mile trail. The park ranger warned us of an alligator that likes to sun itself on the path, and a bear and it's cub… oh and lets not forget the panthers! "But don't worry they normally only come out at night!" LOL! Here are a few pictures of our campsite and our life defying bike ride!

A monument in the distance dedicated to Sir Collier who donated the park land, and to the Seminole Indians who have resided in the area since the 1800's.
The mangrove which we will canoe through! Hopefully they supply us with a good map and a compass!
Our first Alligator encounter!!! This adorable little fellow was sun tanning at the Mangove!
Above is a board walk in the park. A 45 minute stroll which takes you through the salt marsh.
