Here we sit in the trailer, listening to the rain on our roof, and the banter of our fellow campers laughing and complaining to each other about how they drove 1500 miles to go from cold to cold! Ugh! OK, that isn't the only sound we have heard today… There is also a target range next door, and there has been constant gun fire since 8am this morning. Get us outta here!
To our disappointment we have bombed through 3 States in the last 2 days. Before we started out on this venture we couldn't wait to get to the south and spend some time exploring the small towns and eating at random BBQ joints, but in a matter of days we have gone from Texas, through Louisiana, Mississippi, and now one more night in Alabama before we venture into Florida. It has been a blur and we are sad to say we didn't see much. We are cold, damp, depressed, and hoping we find some warmth in Florida. On that happy note! Happy New Year everyone!
Here are a few photos of us blazing through the south!
Above is the view at the Louisiana welcome centre. Exciting stuff! Thankfully we visited NOLA a couple years back and had a fantastic time. This visit was much to brief. |
Above is the city of Mobile, Alabama. The same couple we met in NOLA, and insisted we visit the Hill Country in Texas, also told us we must visit Mobile….. Maybe next time. |
Interstate 10 in Louisiana. Also know as Atchafalaya Swamp Freeway! The road is elevated in most areas due to the swamp land, rivers and the susceptibility to flooding. |
Happy New Year you two......and Mango too! Sorry to hear you haven't found warmth......bring on Florida!
